Carbon Valley: Dacono, Frederick and Firestone

Not often would I put three towns/cities on one blog post but Carbon Valley consists of three individual cities in very close proximity to one another and also do events together. Here’s a breakdown of the cities and what makes them similar and different.

The area is full of community events, some tied to the early mining settlers who founded the towns. History is rich and has a hometown feel throughout all the communities. Here you will find space to spread out at a lower cost that other parts of metro Denver and surrounding.

There are 11 schools in the Carbon Valley area including preschools, charter schools, elementary schools, a K-8 and Frederick High School.

Dacono, Colorado

Dacono, the furthest South of these three towns and the closest to Denver founded in 1908 this was once a small coal mine town in recent years it has boomed into one of the fastest growing small cities in Colorado. Dacono is located within two different school districts, the St. Vrain Valley School District and the Weld County RE-8 School District.

Population: 5,826 (2018)

Area: 8.2 square miles
