Meet Lucia Barrera: Helping People Build a Life in Colorado

At CORE Home Team, we love introducing the incredible agents who make our team so special. Today we're sitting down with REALTOR® Lucia Barrera to learn more about what inspired her to get into real estate, the communities she serves, and why she's passionate about helping buyers and sellers throughout Colorado.

What inspired you to become a REALTOR®?

Becoming a REALTOR® was inspired by my own journey of building a life in Colorado. After living here for more than 20 years, I understand how exciting, and sometimes overwhelming, it can be to create a new beginning in a new place.

I became a REALTOR® because I wanted to help people the way I would have wanted to be helped, with honesty, guidance, and someone who truly cares about their goals.

For me, real estate is about much more than buying and selling homes. It's about helping families create memories, build wealth, and find a place they can proudly call home.

I especially love helping first time buyers, families relocating to Colorado, and the Brazilian community navigate the process with confidence. Every home has a story, and I'm grateful to be part of helping people start their next chapter.

Tell us a little about yourself outside of real estate.

Outside of real estate, I'm a wife, mom, and someone who has loved calling Colorado home for more than 20 years. Originally from Brazil, I enjoy exploring this beautiful state, discovering local gems, spending time with my family, and connecting with people in the community.

I love sharing the Colorado lifestyle and creating meaningful relationships wherever I go.

What is something most people don't know about you?

Something most people don't know about me is that I love creating connections beyond real estate. I enjoy bringing people together, discovering new places in Colorado, and sharing experiences with my community.

Tell us about your connection to Colorado real estate.

My connection to Colorado real estate is personal.

I was the very first buyer and one of the first neighbors to move into Anthem Highlands in Broomfield. I didn't just learn about this community from a brochure or a market report. I experienced it from the beginning. I watched the neighborhood grow, became part of the community, and truly understand what makes Anthem such a special place to call home.

That experience gives me a unique perspective when helping buyers and sellers in the area because I know what makes this community so special.

What areas do you typically serve?

I primarily serve Broomfield, Westminster, Erie, Boulder, and Fort Collins.

I especially love helping people relocate to Colorado because it brings me so much joy introducing them to our beautiful state and helping them find a place they can truly call home.

What are your real estate specialties?

I specialize in helping first time homebuyers, families relocating to Colorado, the Brazilian community, Portuguese speaking clients, and my neighbors in Anthem Highlands.

Whether someone is buying their first home or relocating across the country, I love helping them feel confident throughout the process.

What do you believe is your biggest strength as a REALTOR®?

My biggest strength is my ability to connect with people. I truly listen, understand their needs, and guide them with honesty and care.

What makes you different from other REALTORS®?

I don't just help people buy or sell a house. I help them build a life in Colorado.

After living here for over two decades, I understand the communities, the lifestyle, and the challenges of relocating. I bring a personal touch, strong market knowledge, and a genuine desire to see my clients succeed.

My goal is to make the process feel less overwhelming and create a relationship that lasts long after the keys are handed over.

What is your favorite part about helping people in real estate?

The best part about helping clients buy and sell is being part of one of the biggest moments in their lives.

I love seeing the excitement when someone gets the keys to their first home, finds the perfect place for their family, or moves on to their next chapter.

Tell us about one of your most memorable transactions.

One of my most memorable transactions was helping a family who was starting a new chapter in Colorado.

I remember the excitement, the questions, and the emotions that came with making such a big move. Being able to guide them through the process and see their faces when they received the keys was unforgettable.

Those moments are why I love what I do because every home has a story, and I get to be part of it.

What has made you become a better agent?

I've learned that real estate is about people first.

Listening, building trust, and truly understanding my clients' goals are what make the biggest difference.

Looking back, what do you wish you would have done differently when you first started in real estate?

I would tell myself not to rush the process.

Surround yourself with the right people, ask questions, and continue learning every day. Building relationships and earning trust will always be more important than chasing the next transaction.

What advice would you give someone buying or selling a home today?

Don't rush the process. Surround yourself with the right people, ask questions, and choose a REALTOR® who cares about your goals as much as you do.

What are the most common questions you hear from clients?

The most common questions I hear are:

  • How much can I afford?
  • Do I need a large down payment?
  • Is it the right time to buy?

I love helping people understand their options and realize that homeownership may be more achievable than they think.

What types of homes do you enjoy helping clients find?

The type of home I enjoy helping clients find the most is one that truly fits their lifestyle and their dreams.

I especially love helping first time homebuyers and families find a place where they can create memories and feel a sense of belonging. Whether it's a cozy starter home, a home with space for a growing family, or a place that represents a fresh start in Colorado, I love being part of that journey.

Is there anything else you'd like potential clients to know?

I want my clients to know that they are never just a transaction to me.

I value relationships, honesty, and trust, and I'm committed to being a resource and advocate long after the closing.

If you're looking for a REALTOR® in Broomfield, Westminster, Erie, Boulder, Fort Collins, Anthem Highlands, or anywhere along Colorado's Front Range, I would love the opportunity to help you achieve your real estate goals.
